Hi there. I’m currently in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area of North Carolina stayin’ and chillin’ with a rad dude named Chad. Finally have some time to upload some early photographs, as I’m relaxing at the lovely Open Eye Café. Hopefully I can write something a bit later on and get this thing back on track, although, what that track is I haven’t an idea yet, so…
Anyway, these are some kind of okay snaps (unedited, btw). Enjoy.
P.S. At this point in the trip I hadn’t properly figured out how to bracket for multiple jpg images, so these are all black and white. Next photo update should have some color.
Through the fog, on the opposite side of that fence lies Reagan International Airport. Bummed that I couldn’t get a shot of a plane taking off, since as I rolled up to this area, one had just before—a pretty magnificent sight—but, alas, I spent probably twenty minutes photographing around here to no avail.
Not too far outside of Fredericksburg lies this old Civil War battlefield, Slaughter Pen Farm, that was once nearly sold off to be developed into something awful like a strip mall. Thankfully the Civil War Trust managed to collect enough donations to stave off development. Now it continues to be farmed for the most part. The historic buildings have been preserved. There are some plaques placed intentionally around the property filled with information regarding the battle and the work that went into saving the field from development.
